Default Stop adding new professions

Though many will disagree with me, I think it is good not to add more professions to GW. With Chapter 3 there will be 10 professions. In my humble opinion that will do.
I think it is better for Anet to work on skill balancing or organizing events or getting rid of bugs. I prefer chapter 4 to be a large area, with a good story line, deep and profound and difficult mission/quests or new orginal skillset instead of adding 2 more professions.
Implementing new game features like Auction House, Pet Zoo (for Rangers), Hair Dresser, Armor Storage (storing armor sets) etc would be a leap forward.
When Anet adds 2 professions with each chapter coming out each 6 months, there will be 20 professions with chapter 8. I cannot possibly imagine to play these professions in the other chapters (i.e. chapter 1 - 7). Even a hardcore PvE player cannot possibly play all the professions through all the chapters.
A player who makes a new character in chapter 1 needs to play with this character through the other chapters. He has the option to skip chapter of course, but he might miss some good skills. So he ends up doing all the chapters. A hardcore PvE players who plays with all the professions cannot play with all the professions through all the chapters.
I am not a hardcore PvE player, so I think 10 or may be 12 professions will be maximal.

sakura, with each new land added there must be some sort of unique inhabitants. Otherwise just make new portals and areas in the current lands. While i agree with you that 2 each campaign are too much, at least 1 should be added.

I agree with the OP tbh.

No huge grinds on one character, but many short grinds on many characters - thats how this game is going atm.

There are many bigger issues that need to be dealt with before they start stacking up their to-do list with more professions and new profession fixes + balances.

I think at 12 professions, they should stop coming out with new ones for awhile. That way there would be 6 core and 6 expansion professions. More then that would be overkill, at least for awhile.

The only problem would be adding new unique content. Id suggest that after Chapter 4 they do a few plug-ins that could add missions, quests, areas (like SF), and skills for around $20.

Then after a break from new classes theyd have to add a new chapter with something different, not sure what though.

Personally I like to see lots of professions. It makes each of them more unique each time more are created.

The new proffessions are like new toys.

Take those away and you get the many children who cry.

Having many proffessions also means there are LOADS of party builds you can make. This will make GW less predictable in the terms of PvP as there are many more things a team can do.

I agree, I think it should stop at 10 or 12. If they keep shoving in more professions then professions will be too similar. I missed the Chapter 3 preview event which blows but from what I gather the paragon is a hell of a lot like a monk and the drevish or whatever is like a warrior or assassin.

If they can keep making good ones, fine.

But I'm skeptical that they'll be able to keep it up forever.

WTF is wrong with you people?!?!?!? We need new proffesions. I want to see tons of new proffesions. Its part of whats going to keep the game going, being able to try new things. Would you like to be playing same things over and over and over again, well I know I wouldnt! I completely disagree and I hope this thread burns in hell, goodbye.

Current classes need to be developed, not shoved back into the closet.

agree with OP. Party size is usually around 8 and there is not going enough room for everyone. Even right now we see certain profession getting shunned over others. You can't keeping making new classes without making them better at doing one thing than another class... and there is only so many roles need to be filled in a party.
Its also going to be a nightmare keeping track with all the skills and update to each profession when there is like 20 of them. Besides, according to current speculation, expansion classes will not be expanded upon on. I don't see the reason for having 2 new dead end class every expansion. (Yes i know they can take new expansion professions as secondary and remain competative, but wihtout new skill, armor, weapons etc. I highly doubt people will find it interesting.)

/signed. I would like to see around 12 professions. After that it would be nice to see bigger better content and missions. More challenging things to take your character through. Maybe even ways to train them in new skills or something.

Dont know where i read or heard this so take this as a rumour.
I heard/read that ANet doesnt plan on adding professions to Campaign 4 and according to the rumour Campaign 3 weren't supposed to have new ones either.

If Campaign 5 will have new ones will just be speculations I guess. But with alot of professions balance will become an issue imo.

Yes and No.

Its hard to deney that new class just make it sound better, give a sense that there are something new to play with, which translate to more sale.

If A.net start getting uncreative with the new class (Dervish and Paragon are somewhat closer to that line), than I agree with not add new class that would be just clone of exisiting class combos.

But if you stuff old class with more skill, armor-look, weapons, that will have negative consequence as well, afterall, you can only have 8 skills, 1 weapon, and 1 armor on you at once.

One compromise soluition that I see happening in the future is a New Race with its Core Classes, seperated from that of Humans.

Tossing in a new race would definitely help, but as long as the classes are still good ones, I'm always up for more variety. Anything to shake up the status quo a little is a great thing, imo: If it shakes the status quo its interesting enough to get new players, and it may just revitalize old players who were getting bored.

Mmm. What I see happening is a new set of core classes being established. We already have fighters (D,A), monk/support classes (Rt,P), a litte ranged damage (P) and a little nuke damage (Rt). If chapter Four comes with another halfmonk/caster and a full mesmer-like caster, that's a balanced team of new classes. There'd have to be a change in the way PvE teams are made (3-4 halfmonks rather than 1-2 whole monks), but it could work very well.

Now this is a topic I can get behind. Enough chapter specific professions, how about more actual content in there place? Like a damn auction house? ^_^
